Visit http://TED.com to get our entire library of TED Talks, transcripts, translations, personalized talk recommendations and more.

Say hello to the decentralized economy — the blockchain is about to change everything. In this lucid explainer of the complex (and confusing) technology, Bettina Warburg describes how the blockchain will eliminate the need for centralized institutions like banks or governments to facilitate trade, evolving age-old models of commerce and finance into something far more interesting: a distributed, transparent, autonomous system for exchanging value.

The TED Talks channel features the best talks and performances from the TED Conference, where the world’s leading thinkers and doers give the talk of their lives in 18 minutes (or less). 1. I think you literally just saved my life Robert Wilson, I’ve been struggling to find a way out. I’m currently an N.A waiting to get certified because of covid and stuff but I support myself and my grandma. I don’t have anyone to turn to for help, I’ve been trying to save but I can’t because of bills and renting my apartment and everything. But this, literally helped me look to a brighter future. My grandma is crippled so she cannot do work or anything. Most people have parents to turn to but I don’t talk to my mom or dad. This literally helped me so much because since i met Robert Wilson ? the real issue i have about debt was solve in some weeks am sure before June of my birthday i will be home owner.W͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡H͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡A͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡T͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͡͡͡͡͡͡͡͡S͜͜͜͜͜͜͜͡͡͡͡͡͡͡A͜͜͜͜͜͜͡͡͡͡͡͡P͜͜͜͜͜͡͡͡͡͡P͜͜͜͜͡͡͡͡ ???

  2. Hmm… so what I'm missing, is how it lowers the uncertainty in those three categories. Maybe it tracks it in the block-chain, but there would have to be some form enforcement connected to the real world, it would seem. Also, the comparison to Wikipedia was a bit troubling, as Wikipedia is a complete mess of corruption on anything remotely controversial.

  3. How is the disperses data through block chain is secured ? Anyone who is a hacker can steal the data including the critical documents.
Who needs to approached as no one has the fiduciary responsibility?
When an institution is involved, it means hey have the fiduciary responsibility and they can be questioned to set the things right.
It may look exciting but needs to Putin place a lot of checks and balances , before it is publicized for general usage.
